At the MAAD 2025 event in Dubai, I caught up with Blasius Flasser, one of the event organisers and a passionate RC jet enthusiast. But that’s not all—Blasius is also the proud owner of a stunning 1/5th scale Saab J35Ö Draken, which he is meticulously preparing for the World Jet Masters competition.
In this video, Blasius takes us through the incredible details of this masterpiece, including the exceptional scale paint job by Daniel Hirscher of DH-ColorWorks. This highly detailed and weathered paint scheme took over 200 hours to complete, bringing the model as close as possible to its full-scale counterpart.
About the Saab J35Ö Draken:
The Saab J35 Draken was a Swedish fighter aircraft developed in the 1950s by Saab (Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget). Its revolutionary double-delta wing design made it a standout aircraft, offering high-speed performance and excellent maneuverability. The J35Ö (Österreich) variant was specifically adapted for the Austrian Air Force, which operated the Draken until 2005, making it Austria’s last operational fighter jet before transitioning to the Eurofighter Typhoon.
