Why Invest in Quality Covers?

- For expensive models (£5,000+): Quality covers are essential insurance
- For composite construction aircraft: These materials dent extremely easily – even during building!
- For models with expensive components: Carbon fibre propellers can cost £100-£300+, and a single chip can ruin them
- For long-term value retention: Protected aircraft maintain their condition and resale value
Yes, many manufacturers include basic bubble-wrap style covers, and these do provide some protection. However, for models representing significant investment, premium covers offer substantially better protection during storage and transportation.

I’ve reviewed both versions of this product. It’s brilliant for winter flying in the UK, taking the edge off cold hands whilst maintaining full control. Your transmitter sits inside whilst your hands remain in the padded case – simple but effective.
Transmitter Harnesses
For those preferring harnesses over neck straps, REVOC offers quality options including children’s sizes – excellent for encouraging the next generation into the hobby.
Propeller Covers
Whilst some premium propellers (like Falcon) include covers, many don’t. Given that carbon fibre props can cost well over £100, and multi-blade competition props can exceed £300, protection during transportation is absolutely worthwhile.
Real-World Experience: My Collection
I currently own covers for several aircraft, ranging from 2-7 years old, and they’ve all held up exceptionally well:
Flex Innovations Mamba
My first set, featuring the quilted aluminium line covers. After years of use, they remain in excellent condition with soft, padded protection and practical velcro closures.
Krill Ultimate
A complete set including fuselage cover, purchased approximately 6-7 years ago for around £350-400. These feature:
- Thicker, more rigid construction than the aluminium line
- Zip closures with quality mechanisms
- Velvet-style inner lining
- Multiple foam padding layers
- Wing tube pockets with velcro closures
Despite being stored and used for years, these covers show no signs of deterioration and the aircraft underneath remains pristine.

Seven-year-old custom colour-matched covers that still look fantastic. Admittedly dusty (they’ve never been washed), but a simple wipe-down would restore their shine. The aircraft beneath these covers looks brand new – testament to their protective qualities.

A Cautionary Tale
My FTL Lancer wings demonstrate why protection matters. During construction, before I had covers, the wings developed small dents from dried glue spots on my building board. On composite materials, these imperfections are permanent and highly visible in certain light conditions. It’s frustrating and entirely avoidable with proper protection from the start.
Final Thoughts
After years of using REVOC Customs products, I can confidently say they represent excellent value for protecting significant investments. The quality, thoughtful design features, and durability justify the premium pricing.
Whether you choose the aluminium, hybrid, or custom line depends on your budget and requirements. However, for expensive or delicate composite aircraft, I’d strongly recommend considering the custom line for maximum protection.

Remember: At the end of the day, whether you invest in covers at all is entirely your choice. But if you’ve spent thousands on your aircraft, spending a few hundred more to protect that investment seems rather sensible to me.
